Routine Dental Exams

  • Short exams, usually no more than 10 minutes and associated with a routine hygiene exam.

  • We check the head and neck for abnormal lymph nodes as part of the extra-oral part of the exam.

  • The dentist checks the health of the gums, the intra-oral tissues for oral cancer, the integrity of the existing restorations (fillings, crown, implants, bridges etc.), the health and integrity of the teeth.

  • The dentist checks any up to date x-rays and advises other dental professionals if the patient requires any other x-rays at the time.

  • These exams are important to protect the patient from getting into an emergency situation.  They should occur every 6-12 months.

  • Remember, 2 sets of eyes are better than just 1!
